Mrs. Kristen Marlette Dixon, originally from Sanford, Florida, has been training in dance for over 25 years. She holds her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of Southern Mississippi. While attending USM . Kristen was a member of the Repertory Dance Company, performing in & choreographing pieces for dance concerts, lecture demonstrations, charity benefits, and festivals. She has a wide range of teaching experience: a contract dance teacher within public schools, choreography for high school dance teams, a modern teacher for a professional ballet company, and an adjunct faculty member for the USM Department of Dance. She has been trained in pedagogy and has the teaching strategies to impart her knowledge and passion for dance to a broad audience, from the young professional to the special needs student. Kristen is an advocate for the arts and believes that they should be accessible to everyone. Her ballet classes teach both Cecchetti and Vaganova techniques and focus on injury prevention through proper technical work. Kristen’s modern classes explore a range of motion and risk taking through a very kinesthetic approach. It is a reflection of her own training in Humphrey/Limon, Horton, Cunningham, and Graham techniques. Kristen is a certified fitness Barre Method instructor, Progressing Ballet instructor & working towards her Royal Academy of Dance certification.
